Walthamstow - 10/09/09

I've been waiting for a time like this, to come in to my life. La, la la laaaaaa....

The wind previously at Walthamstow has been stuck in a southerly direction, which meant mainly both south banks on #4 and #5 were the only ones that had been fished.

With the new north easterly, the railway bank on #4 could be fished. I made my way to the inlet and the outflow was drifting straight in front of me. the fish were feeding on daphnia blooms and the wind had an easterly bearing the fish were straight in front of me feeding on the surface. Used a floater with a cruncher, red dial bac and green buzzer on the point and had plenty of action, including a fish of 3.5lb. Had 8 in total and took 4.

Walthamstow - 01/09/09

First day of the East Warwick, had a go for the first time and struggled.

Decided to move to #5 and fished on the bend at the South end. Had fish straight away, and managed 6 in total (took 2). All on cats booby's

Carsington - 04/09/09

Was in Derbyshire for my Nieces wedding, staying in Little Longstone near Bakewell and managed to get some fishing in. Had fished ladybower reservoir before and found it hard going. Carsington had a good write up and decided to have a go there (contemplated some river fishing but the rivers were brown).

Had an afternoon boat and fished the bay at anchor to the left of the lodge, manged a couple of swirls on a floater with nyphs, but after an decided to move around. Drifted from the island near the bird hide and had a real hard steady pull like only a brownie can. Afer a few minutes saw a lovely bronze flash and couldn't believe my luck - the fish was around 3.5lb. As I never had a net I tryed to hand it in to the boat, I held the leader, went to grab him, he spun and away he went!! I was devasted and highly pissed-off.... Fish had taken a cats booby on a Di5.

Noticed a couple of guys back drifting, so followed suit and had the odd pull, and lost a couple after a few seconds of them being hooked.

Eventually worked my way to the dam and on my first drift hooked another fish that felt like a brown - and it was! A little smaller at 3lb, played the fish right out and managed to get him in to the boat.

Carried on fishing the dam area and had two more rainbows, one of which I kept. Cant wait to get back and hopefully have a full day there.

Started of very well, but then had my worst fish ever with 6 blanks on the trot.

First session I had 6 fish in the first hour and packed up at 7:00.

The following weeks were all downhill!!

Halliford Mere - 15/02/09

As I was such a good boy the day before, I managed to blag sunday afternoon at Halliford Mere. Was desperate to get out, and spoke to Brian the day before and prospects were lookings bleak - all the lakes were frozen over.

Thankfully we had a thaw and all the lakes were fishable when I arrived. Used my newish Lorhic 9' #6 and finnaly got too grips with it, and it became a pleasure to fish with.

Managed three fish (was top rod for the day!), and had them on a long leader, 18' and had a black and peacock spider and a orange tadpole on the poing. All the fish took the tadpole, and were caught first swim on lake 2.

Walthamstow - Last two trips of the Season (Jan 09)

Bitterly cold and quite windy, only managed one take on the two afternoon trips. Lee came for some casting practicing on one of the afternoons.

Some fish were caught while I was there and black boobies had done the trick.

Unfortunately, didn't make the last day of the season.
